More Love breaks from its regular Second Saturday slot to bring you a Summer day party — an all ages hang in the De La Luz courtyard with some of our favorite global and local DJs.

Not sure how we got Captain Planet (LA/Bastard Jazz) and Underground System (NYC/Razor-n-Tape) on the same bill, but it’s happening — together with resident Deejay Theory and guest local DJ Studebaker Hawk. With this lineup, pretty much anything is possible, music-wise: Funky Brazilian soul; Italian disco; Afro-Colombian electronica; mid-east groove — it’s gonna be an outernational dance experience in the Summer sun and into the sunset. Wigs, capes; spandex, jellyfish regalia — bring your freaky selves and lets daytime disco together.

DAYTIME DISCO IN THE DE LA LUZ COURTYARD

Captain Planet is a world traveling DJ & music producer who blends global roots music styles with forward-thinking hip-hop, dancehall, and electronic beats.

After cutting his teeth in the competitive New York City club scene, he went on to host a popular radio show on WNYU Radio, and started the globally renowned music blog (go listen!). He has released 5 full-length albums and can be heard on the soundtracks to multiple popular TV shows such as “Silicon Valley,” “Orange Is The New Black,” “Entourage,” and “CSI:NY” to name a few. Additionally, he has produced world recognized remixes for the likes of Little Dragon, Katy B, Alice Russell, Erykah Badu, Mayer Hawthorne and many more.

Underground System don’t need no introduction. As a band, they’ve broken every room we’ve put them in with their ferocious energy, lock-in grooves, and pure say-yes-dance punk. IYKYK. Bandleaders Domenica Fossati and Peter Matson bring all their love and inspo for global dance music to the DJ booth — the duo drops a steady-state groove channeling music from everywhere, seriously.

Give Peter Matson’s brand new record HOTEL PM a listen to catch the vibe. Featuring guest appearances by Poolside, Kendra Morris, Ibibio Sound Machine, Pahua, among others.

A New England native by way of San Francisco, Jake Krauth has been swimming in international musical waters for most of his adult life. While out West, he co-founded and hosted TORMENTA TROPICAL, a decade-long dance party in SF’s Mission district. His in-demand DJ sets diffuse a multiplicity of genres with careful craftsmanship, exquisitely blended with near-zero turbulence and maximal groove.
