Formed by brothers David and Rene Pacheco, California’s Tropa Magica channels their nostalgia from 90s’ grunge rock, 60s psychedelic cumbia, punk, and East LA backyard parties to make tropical psychedelic dance music for you. The self-described “chunsters” also riff on northern Mexico’s chúntaro music — an urban style that combines cumbia and norteño with Colombia’s accordion-based vallenato.

The band embraces a punk DIY spirit as an extension of their working class immigrant roots in LA — it’s trippy and rowdy, a festive celebration of life — a great send-off at the end of Summer. Rene Pacheco describes their philosophy as “conviviendo.” It’s music for living together.
