COSMIC EGYPTIAN PSYCH + MID-EAST FOLK JAZZ

Maurice Louca (Lekhfa, Dwarfs of East Agouza) is one of the most gifted, prolific and adventurous figures in Egypt’s thriving experimental arts scene. His genre-defying music bridges psychedelic Egyptian shaabi, cosmic jazz, and improvisation. In his latest project “Fera”, hypnotic polyrhythms take the forefront for a trance-inducing experience that invites both movement and careful listening.

The quartet is comprised of Ayman Asfour (violin), Dylan Greene (drums/percussion), Rosa Brunello (double-bass) , and Maurice Louca (microtonal guitars, electronics). The new record is richly textured and immersive; languid and nuanced; guided by a delightful collaborative spirit and thoughtful craftsmanship.

GO DEEPER: Bandcamp Daily did a fantastic in-depth report on Maurice, a year prior to the release of Fera, in 2024.
