Maestra Nidia Góngora is unequivocally considered the greatest singer of Colombia’s Pacific region. In 2019 she was nominated for a Latin Grammy with her marimba group Canalón de Timbiqui, playing the traditional music of the South Pacific.

Growing up in a musical family in the Afro-Colombian village of Timbiqui, Nidia is a cultural guardian of its oral tradition and folklore. And she has a unique gift of bridging her traditional music with contemporary global music. Will Holland aka DJ Quantic is a frequent collaborator. The two have released three incredible albums together, “Muevalo Negra”, “Curao”, and “Almas Conectadas”. He says of Nidia: “…she embodies the spirit and ancestral treasures of her origin.”

She is on tour in the US in 2025-26 with the help of the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, presenting her new album “Pacifico Maravilla.”
