Japanese keyboardist and songwriter Masayuki Hirano is best known for his collaborations with some of the greats — Tribe Called Quest, Lauryn Hill, Kamasi Washington.
But his musical creativity shines brightest in the compositions he writes for his trio. Wild juxtapositions inhabit BIGYUKI’s performances: heavy beats laced with classical flourishes; techy low-end bleeps expressed through a heart-shaped sieve. Hard to describe, needs to be heard.
Hirano’s positive energy and gratefulness for music, spontaneity and live performance are always on stage with him, making his concerts some of the most memorable we’ve had the pleasure of hosting.
He brings his infectious and beautifully weird palette of music to the Iron Horse with drummer Jharis Yokley (Solange, Chance the Rapper, Ani DiFranco) and guitarist Randy Runyon (Bilal, Louis Cato, Emily King).
